He is survived by: his daughter Sandra; his pet Tucker; his children, Susan Sears (Don) of Clive, IA, Sandy Nauman (Rich) of Des Moines, IA and Brian Dostal (Suzette) of Cedar Rapids, IA; and his grandchildren, Molly Douglas (Todd), Josh Nauman (Sarah), Maggie Dorweiler (Stephen), Beth (Wade), Ross DeVolder (Jodi), Mitchell Dostal (Sarah), Grant Dostal (Lauren), Noah Dostal (Sam) and Drew Dostal.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Melvin's name may be directed to Suncrest Hospice or Glenwood Place in Marshalltown.
