She was predeceased by: her parents, John Stalzer and Theresa Stalzer (Jansen); her husband Ed Bates; her children, Lisa Thenhaus and Eddie Bates; and her siblings, Elsie Kopel (Ray), Ethel Neuroth (Bud), Clarence Stalzer (Betty), Irma Smith (Cliff), Lester Stalzer, Glenn Stalzer (Ann), Irene Heil, Dorothy Richard (Chuck) and Anna Mae Navara.
She is survived by: her daughter Jolene Bates; her son-in-law Roger Thenhaus (Kami); her grandchildren, Laurie Houska, Ryan Houska (Erin) and Scott Thenhaus (Kayla); and her siblings-in-law, Arlene Stalzer, Harold Heil and Frank Navara. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
