He is survived by: his wife JoAnn Dannen; his sons, David Varnum (Callie) of Colorado, Rick Varnum (Marcie) of Tennessee, Paul Varnum (Holly) of Maine and Mike Varnum of Marshalltown; and his sister Doris Swanson of Des Moines. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren.
