He was predeceased by: his parents, Glenn Sloat and Lois Sloat (Rylander); and his son Douglas. He is survived by: his wife Virginia Shore; his children, Brenda Severson (Kevin) of Marshalltown, Chad Sloat (Laura) of Mt. Pleasant and Amy Jolene Sloat of Marshalltown; his grandchildren, Emily Bowles (Peter), Alaina Goldman (Brandon), Mason, Max, Isabella Sloat and Jacquelyn Schreiner (Ryan); and his great grandchildren, Bennett Bowles, Paige Goldman, Jack Bowles, Leo Goldman, Scarlett Schreiner, Myles and Kennedy Goldman.
