She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Howard Kernes and Dorothy Kernes (Rhinehart); her husband Ronald Howard Rice; her children, Thomas Leeper (Jodi) of Marshalltown, Richard Leeper (Amy) of Nevada and Bethany Leeper of Marshalltown; her grandchildren, Jacob, Courtney, Morgan, Zach, Nathan, Emily, Jordan, Jonathan, Olivia and Ana; her brothers, Howard "Bud" Kernes (Jan) and David Kernes; her godson Ronnie Thomas; her close friend Ethelyn Blodgett; and her brothers, Jon Kernes Sr. and James Kernes. She was also cherished by 11 great-grandchildren.
