It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Verdetta Ann Peterson of Marcus, Iowa, who passed away on October 2, 2022, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Wayne Edwin and Opal Cecelia Houchins (Lundeen); her husband Carlyle; her daughter Julie; her son-in-law Ron Johannsen; her brother Wayne L. Houchins; and her siblings-in-law, Sharon Petersen and Duane Peterson.

She is survived by: her children, Penny, Bob Jones of Sloan, IA, Vickie and Clark Rainboth of Marcus, IA; her grandchildren, Jason Rainboth (Dawn), Wendy Tryon (Todd), Joseph Rainboth (Brandie), Lee Rainboth, Darrin Jones (Sheriffa), Amy Lidgett (Dan Tope), Jessica Espenmiller (Jake) and Pete Johannsen (Amy); and her siblings-in-law, Darrell Peterson (Mary Jane) of Le Mars, IA and Betty Jean Peterson of Cypress, CA. She is also survived by 24 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandsons.

The home in Ticonic I still remember as I grew up near Grant Center and was well familiar with those who lived in Ticonic. The Peterson family was a wonderful family, well respected, and enduring to all who knew them. Verdetta was a very special lady that loved life. May she be in the presence of God in His heavenly kingdom.”
