He was predeceased by: his mother Betty Lou Burns (Boyd); his sister Becky Sue Burns; and his father-in-law Dr. Joseph Lechtenberg. He is survived by: his father Sherman E. Burns of Maquoketa, IA; his wife Mary Pat Lechtenberg of Maquoketa, IA; his children, Erin McCaulley of Maquoketa, IA, Jake Burns (Jenny) of Maquoketa, IA and Adam Burns (Ivy) of Solon, IA; his sister Michelle Burns (Michael French) of Algonquin, IL.; his grandchildren, Ethan, Grace, Cael McCaulley, Marcus Cox, Jonny Burns and Boden Burns; and his mother-in-law Kay Lechtenberg of Maquoketa, IA. He is also survived by nieces, nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, November 20th 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Carson Celebration (318 W Pleasant St, Maquoketa, IA 52060). A funeral service was held on Thursday, November 21st 2024 at 11:30 AM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church (200 S Vermont St, Maquoketa, IA 52060).
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made in honor of his mother to the Jackson County Walk to End Alzheimer's or to a charity of the donor's choice.
