He was predeceased by: his parents, Alvin F. Petersen and Charline Petersen (Bailey); his sister Judy Keltner; his brothers-in-law, David Nimmo and Fred Amrhein; and his niece Sara Nimmo.
He is survived by: his wife Joan L. Petersen of Maquoketa, IA; his sons, Eric Petersen of Maquoketa, IA and Greg Petersen (Kathryn) of Coralville, IA; his brother Wayne Petersen (Patricia) of Maquoketa, IA; his aunts, Catherine Bailey and Dolores Bailey; his siblings-in-law, Gretchen Nimmo, Emmajean Amrhein and Ken Keltner; his grandsons, Aiden and Isaac; his niece Michelle Burkey; and his nephews, Brad Petersen (Karen), Jeremy Simmons (Jenny) and Matthew Nimmo. He is also survived by two great nephews and two great nieces.
Visitation was held on Friday, December 13th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the First Lutheran Church (210 E Platt St, Maquoketa, IA 52060). A funeral service was held on Friday, December 13th 2024 at 11:30 AM at the same location.
Memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Church of Maquoketa, Hospice of Jackson County, or a charity of the donor's choice.
