He was predeceased by: his parents, George Thoel and Grace Thoel (Peters); his wife Betty; his siblings, Delmar and Geraldine Smith; and his daughter-in-law Carol Thoel.
He is survived by: his children, Dale, David of Manson, Diane Abens and Deb Neumann of Peoria, Arizona; and his siblings-in-law, Julia Thoel and Arnold Smith. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
