He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Saunders and Clara Saunders (Asmus); his wife Syliva Saunders; his brother Edward Saunders (Jean); and his brother-in-law Doane Hakes.
He is survived by: his son Robert "Bob" Saunders (Lisa); his grandsons, Brett (Jessica), Scott (Morgan) and Tom (Nikki); his great grandchildren, Jozlyn, Oliver, Illene, Millie, Clara, William, Ellie and Maeve; and his sister Kathy Hakes. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, February 6th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church-Manilla (639 3rd Ave, Manilla, IA 51454). A funeral service was held on Thursday, February 6th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, February 6th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Nishnabotna Cemetery.
