He was predeceased by: his former wives, Jenkie and Marian Sattles Bergstadt; his son Glen Joens; and his siblings, Loretta Peterson, Verdella Koester and Harold Joens.
He is survived by: his wife Peggy Joens of Sioux City; his children, Kathryn Joens of Kingsley, IA and Alan Joens (Melissa Lanzourakis) of Sioux City; his stepchildren, Cynthia, Paul, John and Flint; his grandchildren, Philip, Kevin, Rachel Joens, Michelle, Sheila and Amber (Jake); and his great grandchildren, Nicole, Christopher, Liliana, Jaxson and John. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, September 14th 2024 at 10:30 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church-Manilla (639 3rd Ave, Manilla, IA 51454).
