He was predeceased by: his parents, Arnold Bries and Regina Bries (Ulbrich); his daughter Phylis; his siblings, Imogene Feldman (Carl), JoAnn Willie (Donald), Jim Bries, Charlie Bries (Mary), Anna Marie Bries and Elmer Bries; and his friend Virgene Bockenstedt.
He is survived by: his former wives, MaryAnn Vaske and Cynthia Edaburn; his children, Randy Bries of Urbana, Cheryl Heffernen (Dan) of Altoona, Gary Bries (Susan) of Jackson and Anita Kerper (Michael) of Cottage Grove, Minnesota; his grandchildren, Jessica Gogerty (Dave), Melissa Heffernen, Brian, Jennifer and Julie Bries; his great grandchildren, James, Callen and Savannah Gogerty; his siblings, LeRoy Bries (Verna) of Garnavillo, Virgil Bries (Janice) of Luxemburg, Ken Bries (Lois) of Dyersville, Mike Bries (Marita) of New Vienna, Ron Bries (Lee) of Dyersville, Harold Bries (Lois) of Guttenberg, Gerry Bries (Karen) of Dyersville, Arnie Bries (Joyce) of Dyersville, Thelma Oberbroeckling (Dave) of New Vienna and Carol Hartmann (John) of Guttenberg, Iowa; and his sisters-in-law, Darlene Bries of Dyersville and Theresa Bries of Monona, Iowa. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
