He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Gentz and Olive Gentz (Holthaus); his siblings, Harlan Gentz, Martin and Marian; his grandson Andrew Gentz; his nieces and nephews, Merlin Gentz, Jeff Chitwood, Bill Dempster, Colette Swieter and Christine Recker; and his siblings-in-law, Elaine Chitwood and Arlin Dempster.
He is survived by: his wife Ruth Studnicka of Manchester; his children, Kevin Gentz (Connie) of Colesburg, Iowa, Jerilyn Walvatne (Dale) of Hawkeye and Randy Gentz (Sherri) of Manchester; his sister Jean Dempster of Cedar Falls, Iowa; and his brother-in-law Gary Chitwood of Muscoda. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.
