He was predeceased by: his parents, John Otto and Laura Fredrick (Bartels); his wife Jeanette; and his siblings, Carl, Harold and Elsie Shalkhauser.
He is survived by: his sons, William "Bud" (Lou) of Dayton, Thomas (Joyce) of Brewster, Charles (Kim) of Dubuque and Elmer "Jay" (Terry) of Ames, Iowa; and his siblings-in-law, Scott Ortberg (Linda) of Texas and Janet Ortberg of Florida. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service (925 W Main St, Manchester, IA 52057). A burial will be held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Calendar Fairview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Eugene's memory may be directed to the Hospice of Dubuque.
