He was predeceased by: his parents, William Schnieders and Alice Schnieders (Grethen); his sister Sidonia Adams; his brothers-in-law, Ron Adams, Chuck Arnold and Delwin Rettenmaier; and his nephew Rodman Adams.

He is survived by: his children, Kris Dykstra of Waukee, IA, Amy Rino (George) of Phoenix, AZ and Carrie Shidla (Robert) of Minneapolis, MN; his grandchildren, Payton and Leo; his former wife Kaye Perry; and his sisters, Odette Rettenmaier, Carol Arnold and Jeanette Schnieders. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
