He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Johnson and Clarice Johnson; his siblings, Glennis Zarek, Dorothy Steinhauser and Leonard Johnson; and his grandsons, Andrew Thompson and Joshua Cole.
He is survived by: his brother Dick; his wife Marjorie Sire of Butte, Nebraska.; his sisters, Lucille Bowman and Lila Leatherwood; his children, DeAnn Thompson (Brian), JoAnn Leach (Stephen), LeAnn Houlette (Kevin) and David Johnson (Mary); and his grandchildren, Kerrie Knudsen (Greg), Kristin Griffin (Jacob), Kacie Thompson (Brandon Loverude), Bethany Ogle (Cory), Melanie Vespestad (Erick), Kirk Leach, Ann Wheeler (Grant), Renee Houlette, Stephanie Houlette, Jeremy Cole (Ying Xu) and Christine Sims. He is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Memorial gifts may be given to Madrid Evangelical Free Church, Hidden Acres Christian Center, Rotary Club of Des Moines Foundation, or The Family Leader.
