He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Johnson and Elsie Johnson (Kruse); his wife Suzanne; his son Matthew; and his brothers, Rodney and Marlow Johnson.
He is survived by: his daughters, Stefanie Gardner (Matthew) of Johnston and Carolyn Stevens (Kirk) of Ames; his grandchildren, Holly (Ethan Middleton), Maggie Gardner, Jacob and Will Stevens; his siblings, Darlene Eeten, Roberta McKibbin and Jim Johnson; and his close friend Roger Lenz. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, and many friends he considered extended family.
Memorials may be directed in Don's name to Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.
