Ethel M. Kohlhaas Obituary
We bid farewell to Ethel M. Kohlhaas of Lu Verne, Iowa, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on March 13, 2025 at the age of 97. Ethel touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her parents, George Arndorfer and Louise Arndorfer (Neppl); her husband Alfred "Al" Kohlhaas; and her siblings, Rosalyn "Rosy" Fangman, Roberta "Bobby" Welter, Melvin Arndorfer and Loren Arndorfer.
She is survived by: her children, Terry Kohlhaas (Cindy) of Lu Verne, Nancy Thornton (Jack) of Urbandale, Wayne Kohlhaas (Pam) of Mason City and Keith Kohlhaas of Lu Verne; her grandchildren, Tammy Stender (Chris) of Glen View, IL, Rob Thornton (Jami) of Waunakee, WI and Brian Kohlhaas (Alex) of Council Bluffs; her great grandchildren, Keira, Ryan Stender, Graham, Colin, Jimmy Thornton, Lyla, Claire and Quinlynn Kohlhaas; and her sister-in-law Ida Mae Arndorfer of Wesley. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A rosary was held on Monday, March 17th 2025 from 4:45 PM to 5:00 PM at the Bishop Garrigan Chapel (1224 N McCoy St, Algona, IA 50511). Visitation was held on Monday, March 17th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the same location. A Mass was held on Tuesday, March 18th 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Divine Mercy Parish ~ St. Joseph (405 S East St, Wesley, IA 50483).
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family which will be dispersed to Hospice of the Heartland and St. Benedict Catholic Cemetery, in Ethel's memory.
