He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin Sawyer and Gladys Sawyer (Bjornson); his wife Kay Sawyer; his sons, Jared and Jay Michael (Carri) of Bettendorf; and his siblings, Beverly, Marvin Jr., Virginia, Kenny, Merlin and Patty.
He is survived by: his children, Sandy Sawyer of Boone, Sue Slattum (Craig) of Joice and Jeff Sawyer of Minneapolis, MN; his grandchildren, Abbey Hess (Troy), Jordan Sawyer (Kassandra) and Troy Sawyer; his stepgrandchildren, Katie Thielen (Luke) and Jason Slattum (Alyssa); his great grandchildren, Oliver, Milo and Cora; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Ben, Haley, Hannah and Lauren; his brother Charles "Tom" Sawyer (Jeannie) of Branson, MO; and his siblings-in-law, Sharon Sawyer of Humboldt, Barb Saywer of Humboldt and Joe Cayou (Lou) of International Falls, MN. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to American Heart Association, Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Livermore, or any mental health facility in Richard's name.
