He was predeceased by: his parents, Ben Gerken and Elsie Gerken (DeBoer); his wife Jo Ann Gerken; his daughter Kelli Jo Klaassen; his brothers, Lanys and Roger "Butch" Gerken; his mother-in-law Wilma Schoon; his brother-in-law Fred Bossard; his nephew Robert Bossard; and his nieces, Rochelle Bruns and Jessica Gerken.
He is survived by: his daughter Staci Klaassen (Rick) of Little Rock, IA; his son-in-law Jeff Klaassen of Little Rock, IA; his grandchildren, Chelsie Wiertzema (Adam), Krista Hoyme (Andrew), Kory Klaassen, Shannon Lloyd (Austin), Kassidy Kramer (Jesse) and Brennan Klaassen; his great grandchildren, Kennedy, Jayla, Masyn, Paisley, Madden, Maverick, Matthew, Mia, Myles, Greyson and Quinn; his siblings, John Gerken (Beverly) of George, IA, Gregg Gerken (Dennise) of Little Rock, IA, Eric Gerken of Centralia, MO, Orlene Van Zee (Conrad) of Rock Valley, IA and Bonnie Hilbrands (Fred) of Sheldon, IA; and his sisters-in-law, Elaine Bossard of Mesa, AZ, Karen Wiertsema (Gerald) of Ida Grove, IA, LeAnn Gerken of Little Rock, IA and Alvina Kruger (Gary) of Little Rock, IA. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
