He was predeceased by: his parents, Nicholas Kellen and Beulah Kellen (Vaughn); his son Jeffrey Kellen; his brother Donald Kellen; his sisters-in-law, Viola Kellen and Mary Lou; and his son-in-law Kelly Monier.
He is survived by: his wife Catherine Kellen of Sibley, IA; his children, Lori Monier (Jim Rassel) of Marcus, IA, Patricia Evenson (Tormod) of Red Wing, MN, Paul Kellen (Sheri) of Cottage Grove, MN, Stacey Lonneman (Daniel) of Ashton, IA, Terri Block (Craig) of Dakota Dunes, SD and Georgia Perez Marin (Moises) of Madrid, Spain; and his brother Robert Kellen of Yankton, SD. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
