He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Welter and Elizabeth Welter (Knapp); his wife Rosemary Supple; his stepmother Millie; and his parents-in-law, Herman Welter Jr. (Veronica), Bill Welter (Monica), Margaret Artz (Gene), Helen Green (Bob), Marcus Supple (Doris) and Clair "Whitey" Supple.
He is survived by: his sister Bonnie Sonsken of Carroll, IA; his children, Michael (Donna) of Coralville, IA, Maureen (Carroll Smith) of Hillsboro, OR, Marcia (Chuck Gheldof) of Osprey, FL, Melinda (Randy Pyde) of Itasca, IL, Mary Welter of Indianapolis, IN, Marty (Michelle) of Sedona, AZ and Melissa McLaughlin of St. Paul, MN; his grandchildren, Ross Welter, Kimberly Welter (Eric), Jolene Lechowicz (Phil), Margaret Shupe (Shayne), Robert, Elizabeth Pyde and Neil McLaughlin; and his pet Benji. He is also survived by five great grandchildren.
