She was predeceased by: her parents, Dwight Horsman and Ethel Horsman (Oviatt); her husband Bruce Alger; her grandparents, Cleve and Cora Oviatt; her foster brother Melvin Smith; her brothers-in-law, Harvey Newkirk, Richard Alger, Larry Alger and Lester Alger; and her son-in-law Brian Kruse.
She is survived by: her children, Bobbi Kruse (Howard Gollobit) of Sutliff, IA, Betsy Jeffrey of Cedar Rapids, IA, Barry Alger (Cindy) of Cedar Rapids, IA and Brian Alger (Lisa) of Mechanicsville, IA; her sisters, Joan Newkirk, Faye Alger and Gale Markley; her cousin Mary Ellen Oviatt; and her grandchildren, Brianna Koester (Ryan), Kassidy Kruse (Ashley), Monikka Fuller (Ryan), Grant Alger (Lacy), Alicia Gatzemeyer (Cory), Andrew LeGrand Jeffrey (Amanda), Jamie Murphy, Luke Jeffrey, Abby Alger and Kal Alger (Rachel). She is also survived by 27 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life was held on Thursday, December 26th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Living Hope Global Methodist Church (200 E Market St, Lisbon, IA 52253). A funeral service was held on Thursday, December 26th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
