He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernon Carter and Maxine Boiler (Carter); his sister Donna Jean Carter; his stepparents, Gwendolyn Carter and Raymond Boiler; his sister JoAnn Johnson; and his granddaughter Mary Catherine Rose Carter.
He is survived by: his wife Margaret Ann; his children, David Carter (Cathy) of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Susan Meredith (Cyril) of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Jon Carter of Letts, Tom Carter (Teresa) of Letts and Matt Carter (Priscilla) of Dubuque; and his siblings, Duane Carter (Joyce), John Carter (Sue), Carolyn Bennett (Ben), Alan Carter (Margaret), Ken Carter (Pam), Les Carter and Jennifer Vonk (Steve). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
