He is survived by: his parents, Jeff Gelhaus and Mary Gelhaus (Jorgensen); his wife Jenna Carlson; his close friends, Chris of Algona and Daniel of Algona; his grandparents, Patty Jorgensen of Swea City, Dean and Judy Gelhaus of Ledyard; his pets, Gizmo and Millie; his close friend Courtney Lang; and his aunts and uncles, Kristi Sjerven (Larry) of Brooklyn Park, MN, Jim Jorgensen (Doreen) of Windom, MN, John Jorgensen (Lori) of Fairmont, MN, Bill Jorgensen (Lora) of Lakeville, MN, Margaret Brandt (Greg) of Algona and Don Jorgensen (Rocio) of Ledyard. He is also survived by many cousins, other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Elijah Gelhaus Memorial Fund which will be directed to the Kossuth Animal Rescue and to area mental health awareness and suicide prevention programs in his memory.
