He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Johnson and Lois Johnson (Utesch); and his wife Susan Johnson. He is survived by: his close friend Charlie; his pet Dawn; his daughter Melanie Johnson (Michael Greenstein) of Northbrook, IL; his grandchildren, Charlotte and Ira; his daughter Megan Johnson-Gott (Isaac Gott) of Coralville, IA; his granddaughter Genevieve; his girlfriend Dawn Norton (family: Michelle Pineda, Logan Norton) of Sioux City, IA; and his brothers, Bob Johnson (Sharon) and Mike Johnson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, April 4th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Saturday, April 5th 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:15 PM. A celebration of life was held on Saturday, April 5th 2025 at 1:30 PM at the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church (400 Linn St, Le Mars, IA 51031).
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials can be made in Chuck's name to his daughter's nonprofit animal rescue, Hero's Haven Animal Rescue, 1631 12th Ave, Coralville, IA 52241.
