He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Robert, Alice Mahoney, Ruth Boyles, Joe and Alma Johnson; his aunt Mary Margaret Burton (Mahoney); and his uncle Richard Burton.

He is survived by: his wife Kelly Elliott; his children, Alice and Erin; his pets, Gantore and Oscar; his parents, Mike Mahoney and Peggy Mahoney (Peggy) of Boone; his sister Meredith; his brother-in-law Nate Nerem; his nephews, Carden and Hayden of Boone; his aunts and uncles, Tim, Judy Mahoney of Omaha, Pat and Shawn Mahoney of Overland Park, Kansas; his cousins, Dan Mahoney, Mark Mahoney (Christina), Paul Burton (Abbey) and Sarah Burton; his parents-in-law, John of Anthony, Mary Thomas of Anthony and Chris Elliott of Anthony; and his siblings-in-law, Tim Elliott, Jared Thomas, Adam Thomas, Andi Giesen, Mandy Duncan and Rocky Elliott. He is also survived by his father, sister, wife, and close friends.

Ryan served as a board member for the Siouxland Sharks swim team and was involved with the LB Education Foundation.
