He was predeceased by: his parents, Wayne Schacherer, and Gertrude Schacherer, Sr. (Soehner); his son Kenneth Schacherer; and his siblings, Don, John Schacherer, Lois Franson and Alice Abraham.
He is survived by: his wife Catherine Bussman; his children, Marjorie Wellendorf of Omaha, NE, Evelyn Neill of Council Bluffs, Susan Hess (Doug) of Carson, Theresa Christophersen of Fairfax, VA, Mike Schacherer (Deb) of Decorah, Roberta Hertz (Robert) of Laurens and Gene Schacherer (Penni) of Grand Forks, ND; and his siblings, Eileen Rosik, Murial Bach, Carol Andrews, Mary Smith, Virginia Schoen, Glenice Meyer, Allan Schacherer, Harold Schacherer and Jeff Schacherer. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 28th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on Wednesday, January 29th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. A rosary was held on Tuesday, January 28th 2025 at 6:00 PM at the Powers Funeral Home - Laurens (263 Ralston St, Laurens, IA 50554). A funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, January 29th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church (11 SW 2nd St, Pocahontas, IA 50574). A burial was held on Wednesday, January 29th 2025 at the Calvary Cemetery (44613 140th Ave, Laurens, IA 50554).
