She was predeceased by: her parents, Oran William "Bill" and Shirlee Mae Schemmel; her sisters, Jill and Janie; and her brother-in-law Robert "Bob" Lanzner.
She is survived by: her caregiver Corps; her former husband Eugene Denton "Beau" Bench III; her son Eric Ryan Bench (Paula); her husband Doug; her daughter Alison Bench; her stepchildren, Kimberly Kennedy (Heath) and Ryan Miller; her grandchildren, Kate Kennedy, Denton Bench, Grace Kennedy, Samuel Wilson (Alison), Henry Miller and Caroline Miller; her siblings, Jeff Schemmel, Holly Lanzner, Gerard "Jerry" Schemmel (Diana), Jed Schemmel (Lynn), Jason Schemmel (Debbie) and Joel Schemmel (Toni); and her sister-in-law Lori Schemmel.
In remembrance of Heidi's life and in lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Augustana Nursing program.
