It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Emma J. Desmet Lucas (Larchwood, Iowa), who passed away on December 19, 2019, at the age of 110, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband Ted DeSmet; her former husband Lawrence Lucas; her sons, Alvin DeSmet and Gene DeSmet; her children-in-law, Tina DeSmet, Darlene DeSmet, Barbara DeSmet and Harold Heirigs; and her sisters, Margaret DeSmet, Loretta Roemen, Bertha Kramer, Imelda Anderson and Darlene Schettler.
She is survived by: her children, Clete DeSmet (Bev), Don DeSmet (Susie), Dean DeSmet (Nancy), Veronica Weins (Robert) and Jane Heirigs; her daughter-in-law Audrey DeSmet; and her sister Clara George. She is also survived by her 37 grandchildren, 89 great-grandchildren and 73 great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers family prefer memorials which will be sent to the National Right To Life and the American Life League.
