Beverly DeSmet Obituary
We bid farewell to Beverly DeSmet of Larchwood, Iowa, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on August 8, 2024 at the age of 88. Beverly touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her parents, Ernest Hoefert and Gertrude Hoefert (Hanisch); her husband Cletus F. DeSmet of Mary's Church; her daughter-in-law Laurie DeSmet; her siblings, Darlene Groeneveld (Bill) and Ernie Hoefert; her in-laws, Alvin, Darlene DeSmet, Bob, Veronica Wiens, Harold Heirigs and Gene DeSmet; and also, Ted and Emma DeSmet.
She is survived by: her children, Patty Klein (Randy) of Sibley, IA, Dan DeSmet of Elkton, SD, Bob DeSmet (Shirley) of Alvord, IA and Scott DeSmet (Brenda) of Sioux Falls, SD; her sister Barb Viet of Madison, SD; and her siblings-in-law, Helen Hoefert of Hartford, SD, Jane Heirigs of Larchwood, IA, Audrey DeSmet of Hills, MN, Don DeSmet (Susie) of Canon City, CO and Dean DeSmet (Nancy) of Omaha, NE. She is also survived by twenty-three grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the DeSmet family asks memorials be directed to the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD or St. Mary's Catholic Church in Larchwood, IA.
