Rolan Russell Naab Obituary

Rolan Russell Naab, age 94 of Lake View, Iowa, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2022, at Black Hawk Life Care Center.
Rolan moved from his home in Sedro Woolley, Washington where he and his wife, Helen, lived since 2004. He said he wanted to go home.
Rolan was born January 30, 1928, to parents Arthur Herman Naab and Edna Marie Naab, nee Maack, in Charter Oak, Iowa. He was baptized on May 6, 1928, at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa.

He grew up with his family in Charter Oak with one sibling, Dorothy Anne Gries, nee Naab; she passed away July 8, 2022, in Denison, Iowa. Rolan attended Charter Oak-Ute School and graduated May 10, 1945.

On July 28, 1945, Rolan was united in marriage with Helen Viola Bohm in Council Bluffs, Iowa. They moved into a home in Redfield, Iowa where their 3 children were born in Denison and Dexter.

Work for Rolan was few and far between so in December 1958, with 2 children and a baby only a little over a month old, moved to Omaha, Nebraska. He found work with a canning company until an opportunity came along for him to work for Boeing in Seattle, Washington in the summer of 1969. They made their home in Lynnwood and Everett before moving to Sedro Woolley.

Dad had one hobby that he was passionate above, even traveled to Idaho Falls, Idaho to visit FamilySearch Library to research past family. In 2008, daughter Toni took over the family tree and joined Ancestry to do research on both her family and her husbands.

He was preceded in death by his parents: his sister Dorothy and his daughter Patricia Sue Naab, who passed away in 1984.

Those left to mourn the death of Rolan are daughters, Sheryl L. Sloan of Savannah, Georgia and Tonia F Johnson of Marysville, Washington.
Grandson’s Edward, Michael, James, 17 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. Nieces and nephews, all other family members.

Rolan is being cremated and shipped back to his daughter Toni, so he can be buried with his wife, Helen, in Mount Vernon Cemetery.
