He is survived by: his wife Gertrude Nansteel of Lake View, IA; his son Robert Lewis Nansteel II (Lisa) of Ballwin, MO; his grandsons, Andrew Smith (Kim) of Fredericksburg, VA and Robert James Nansteel (Carrie) of Valley Park, MO; his great grandchildren, Adelynn Smith, Katie, Emma and Jack Beckenholdt; and his brother-in-law Kenneth Freese of Georgia. He is also survived by many other extended family members and friends.
