He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Nelson and Fern Nelson (Nellis); his father-in-law Charles Griffin; and his brother-in-law Steve Stille. He is survived by: his wife Lynn Nelson of Lake View; his children, Dave Nelson (Anji Bennett) of Lake View, Dan Nelson of Minneapolis, MN and Katie Nelson of Republic, MO; his grandchildren, Eliana Nelson, Jack and Charlie Jo Straight; his mother-in-law Martha Griffin of Newton; and his sisters, Mary Ira of Aurora, CO and Becky Stille of Naples, FL. He is also survived by horses, cats, and Lynn's dog he called Puppy.
