He was predeceased by: his parents, Martel Mathews and Agnes Mathews (Charlson); his great grandchild Eli Olson; and his siblings, Arlo Mathews, Karolyn Flatrud (Roger) and Verlaine Swingen (Gussie).
He is survived by: his wife Carole Mathews (Larson); his children, Jon Mathews (Marna), Mike Mathews (Lisa), Julie Helgeson (Don) and Nancy Holt; and his grandchildren, Chelsea Schaefer (Ben), Emily Mongan (Skyler), Lacey Register (Gary), Ben Mathews, Haley Olson (Garrett), Quinton Wilson (Mikala), Michele Huggins, Dylan Davis (Abby), Sara Pederson (Todd), Jennifer Sauer (Adam), Jill Jefferson (Mike) and Jeffrey Holt. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren; as well as many loving in-laws, extended relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 24th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Winnebago Lutheran Church (40029 210th Ave, Lake Mills, IA 50450). A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 24th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
