It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Caroline May Smires of Lake City, Iowa, born in Columbia, Pennsylvania, who passed away on June 1, 2023, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, LeRoy Metzel and Edna Metzel (Derr); her husband Robert Smires; her brother Herman O'Brien; and her pet Kitty Too.
She is survived by: her children, Deb Mauer (Gary) and John Smires; her grandchildren, Jessica Asmus (Josh), Matthew Mauer (Lori), Heather Hull (Jay), Sarah Mohr (Blake), Josh Smires (Saige) and Sonya Smith; her great grandchildren, Destini Asmus, Kylee Mauer, Kayden Mauer, Kynlee Mauer, Zeke Hull, Mitchell Hull, Jaylee Hull, Layla Hull, Liam Mohr, Jerzye Smires, Kimberae Smires, Jacob Smires, Liian Smith and Airion Smith; and her grandson Derric Honeycutt.
