He was predeceased by: his parents, Leslie R. Cowell and Theresa Ward Cowell; his wife Ruby Younker; his son Jeffrey; and his siblings, Betty Conrow, Don and Chuck Cowell.
He is survived by: his children, Craig Cowell (Sherry) and LuAnn Snyder (Monte); his grandchildren, Lisa, Kyle Cowell, Alex, Emily and Olivia Snyder; and his pet Tramp. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
