He was predeceased by: his father Richard L. Johnston; and his brother Mark Johnston. He is survived by: his mother Mayzie Lubbert Johnston (Ervin) of Waterloo; his wife Melva Johnston; his children, Brandon Calvert of Waterloo and Nicole White of Waterloo; his stepchildren, Kim of Waterloo, Jennifer Kulish of Waterloo and Richard Feldman (Sherry); and his siblings, Rick Johnston (Kim) of Alden, Douglas Johnston of Waterloo, Brenda Miller (Kirk) of Dallas, Deborah Johnston of Waterloo, Pamela Beier (Jerry) and Susan Johnston-Woodward. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
