It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ruby Sides of La Porte City, Iowa, born in Kings Mountain, North Carolina, who passed away on April 8, 1982, at the age of 60, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Butler Dixon and Fannie Whisnant Dixon; her husband Warren Artman Sides; her siblings, Holland Dixon (Ruby), Hubert, Basil Dixon (Mary), Evelyn Herndon (Frank), Irene Johnston (Tom), Goldie Owens (Charles) and Ethel Elwood (Bud); and her grandson Nicholas Merchant.
She is survived by: her children, Richard Sides (Sally) and Helen Merchant (Patrick); her grandchildren, Scott Sides (Leigh), Jeff Sides (Janell), Janan Timmer (Mike), Zachary Merchant (Ashley) and Lincoln Merchant (Katy); and her sister Nell Jones (Bill). She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren.
