He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Smith and Pauline Smith; his brother Robert Franklin; and his granddaughter Emily Bohnsack. He is survived by: his former wife JoAnn Ambrosy; his children, Lesa Powell (Duane), Beth Bohnsack, Michael Smith of Waterloo, Matthew Smith (Melissia) of Waterloo and Nicholas Smith of Waterloo; his siblings, Dan Smith of Indianapolis, IN and Dodie Denkinger of Johnston; his grandchildren, Darian Powell, Dylyn Powell, Dayton Schmit (Austin), Delaney Bates (Jeff), Rachel Bohnsack, Brayden Bohnsack, Finnegan Smith, Carson Paul and Ella Paul; and his great grandchildren, Mya and Cannan.
