He was predeceased by: his parents, Matthew E. Johnson and Mae M. Johnson (Schafer); his siblings, Earl, Laverne, Arthur, Bernard, Lillian and Darlene; and his grandson Bret L. Frush.
He is survived by: his wife Helen M. Jans; and his children, Judy (Dick Frush), Van Johnson and Cynthia (John Nichols). He is also survived by 9 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
