He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis M. Nie and Hilda C. Nie (Zieser); his siblings, Rosella Sadler (William), Lenora Nie, Kathleen Murphy, Lavern and Jerome Nie; and his brother-in-law James J. Rottinghaus.
He is survived by: his sister Karen Rottinghaus; and his brother-in-law Michael J. Murphy. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
