He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Koons and Hildreth Koons of Knoxville, Iowa.; and his siblings, Warren, Marion, Leland, Bobby, Karen, Connie and Carley.
He is survived by: his wife Norma Salsberry; his children, Debra, Lonnie Koons (Roxanne) of Van Meter, Randy Koons (Judy) of St. Charles, Deb Sheldahl (Steve) of Peru and Beth Schurman; and his siblings, Phyllis Witte (Kenneth), Correne Bennett (Randy) of Knoxville, Butch Koons (Paula) of Knoxville and Gwen Bly of Des Moines. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.
