It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of John Haning of Knoxville, Iowa, who passed away on March 27, 2023, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family in the guestbook on this memorial page of John Haning to show support.

He was predeceased by: his parents, George Haning and Bessie Haning (Gibbons); and his siblings, Loretta Henry, Gene, Robert and Arl.

He is survived by: his spouse Pat Dykstra; and his children, Randal Haning (Sharon), Deborah Haning, Anthony Haning (Debra) and Elizabeth Hadler (Gary). He is also survived by nine grandchildren, four with spouses, and four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church.

“We are sad to hear of John's passing. On my rare trips to Knoxville I enjoyed having coffee with him and Jim Young at McDonald's, later at the hospital cafeteria. John and Jim were outstanding guards on the Panthers football team. When I was young I always had my hair cut by his father, George (Jed) Haning, and later by his brother, Arl. We always heard the news of the day at the barber shop. John was a good friend and a solid citizen, and we are sad to have lost him.”
