With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Janet Marie Mathes (Knoxville, Iowa), born in Rockwell City, Iowa, who passed away on August 10, 2019 at the age of 86. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Heyke B. Poppinga and Alice Poppinga (Lighter); her brother Charlie Poppinga; her sister-in-law Sylvia Poppinga; her sister Mary Mitchell; her brother-in-law Gene Mitchell; her sisters, Helene Neer and Elva Johnson; her brother-in-law Herb Johnson; her brother Bill; her sister-in-law Junella Fee; and her stepdaughter Jill Mathes.
She is survived by: her husband Wilbur Mathes; her brother-in-law Gerald Mathes (Carol) of Melcher-Dallas; her children, Arend Gene Mathes (Pam) of Melcher Dallas, Don Mathes (Glenda) and Charlotte Schrader (Lyndon) of Columbia; and her stepsons, Barry Mathes (Cathy) of Pennsylvania and Wesley Mathes (Julie) of Madrid. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
