He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew Petersen and Anna Andersen Stub Petersen; his wife Norma; and his siblings, James, Folmer Adolf, Ivan, Naomi, Gorman and Celius.
He is survived by: his grandchild Danish; his children, Mary Sue Reeves (Charlie), Carol Ann Scheve (Robert) of Melcher, Linda Lea O'Dell of Knoxville and James David Petersen (Julie) of Knoxville; and his siblings-in-law, Rosie Petersen of Elk Horn and Jack Holland (Norma Kay) of Texas.
