He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Flynn and Darlene Flynn (Conrad); and his sister Patricia Flynn Skibbe. He is survived by: his former wife Vickie Norenberg; his sons, Scott Flynn (Holly) of Keota, Matthew (Jenny Hobbs) of Keota and Brett (Brynn Weimer) of Chicago; his grandchildren, Jacob, Thomas, Anna, Lily and Toby; and his siblings, Linda Greiner (Clare) of Derby, Nancy Tutor of Ankeny, Cindy Lebsack (Mike) of Iowa City, Janie Odegard (Ed) of LeClaire, Jim Flynn (Rita Jo) of Harper and Doug Flynn (Rosemary) of Keota.

A memorial fund has been established for the Keota Aquatic Center, Keota Museum or Essence of Life Hospice.
