He was predeceased by: his parents, William Henry Briggs, Sr. and Lelah Chloe Briggs (Bryant); his siblings, Byrd Carlton (Pat), Tressler "Tuffy" Carlton (Shirley), Horras Carlton, Doris Carlton, Lucille Carlson (Don) and Rosa Ann Smith (Jim); his sister-in-law Sandy Briggs; and his great grandchild Valerie Rose Lihs.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Briggs of Keokuk; his sons, William L. Briggs (Debbie), Robert Gene Briggs (Julie) and Terry Lenn Briggs (Amy); and his brother Robert Briggs. He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
