He was predeceased by: his parents, Percy Franklin and Martha Kean Ames; his children, Christina Ames, Michael Ames and Jamie Ames; his siblings, Stanley Ames, Wendell Ames, Kenny Ames, Carroll Ames, Kay Ames, Wesley "Suz" Ames, Ruby Ames Lulack, Gloria Ames Dennis, Emma Ames Holland, Bonnie "Jane" Ames Wilke and Wanda Ames Lombard; his great grandchild Gunther Ames; and his great great grandchild Kymberly MaKenna Howell (Hazel Morehouse).
He is survived by: his wife Mary Lou Hayden; his close friends, Lester Piersee and Robert "Bob" Neff; his sons, Wes, Milton Ames (Tricia) of Keosauqua, IA and Wesley Ames (Tammy) of Keokuk; his grandchildren, Brandon Ames (Rebecca), Nathan Ames (Lacy), Jill Seabold (Bill), Jake Ames (Michelle), Matt Ames (Ashley), Amy Chase (Zack), Ashley Ames, Brandt Ames and Kaci Ames; his sisters, Velda Ames Templeton (Don) of Sturgis, KY and Ethel "Ginny" Ames Barzilla of Wadesville, IN; and his son Barry Smith. He is also survived by twenty-four great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren.
