He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Walter and Bernice Walter (Strohmaier); his wife Dena Brown of Kahoka, Missouri.; his brother Dale Walter; and his brothers-in-law, John Brown and Bill Deck.
He is survived by: his close friend Debbie Foulkes of Keokuk; his sons, Brett Walter (Kelli Jo) of Grapevine and Michael Walter of Denver, Colorado; his siblings, Dave Walter (Barb) of Keokuk and Marilyn Freitag (Terry) of Monticello, Wisconsin; his grandchildren, Claire Wilson (Ben) of Denham Springs, Jill Applegate (Landon) of Houston, Max Walter of Denver, Allie Walter of Denver, Emma Walter of Denver, Olivia Walter of Denver, Adena Walter and Joshua Walter of Grapevine, Texas; his great grandchildren, Luke, Anna Clair Wilson of Denham Springs, Ireland and Sailor Applegate of Houston, Texas; and his siblings-in-law, Sherry Larkam (Rick) of San Antonio, Pam Brown of Dallas, Maureen Walter of Wichita, Kansas and Fred Brown of Jefferson City, Missouri..
